CANTON - The first pitch Taylor Willis released was called a ball.
That's about as close as Pisgah High's ace pitcher came to being in trouble Tuesday in the Bears' postseason opener against Patton. The softspoken - but hard-throwing - junior threw a five-inning perfect game in an 18-0 romp over outmanned Patton in front of a standing-room-only home crowd.
The Bears remained undefeated at 24-0 and advanced to host Bandys in the second round of the NCHSAA 2-A playoffs on Friday.
