East-West girls soccer: East takes easy win

GREENSBORO - There was little doubt Carrie Dail earned MVP honors in Tuesday night's N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game. The All-State midfielder from Swansboro had a goal and an assist as the East won 3-1.
Conveying Dail's accomplishment to the crowd was another issue. With 10 minutes left, the power went out at UNCG Soccer Stadium, killing the lights, scoreboard and public address system. The game carried on in the declining light, but one tournament official radioed another with a prickly question.
"How're we gonna announce the MVP?"
Seconds later, a reply.
