NCHSAA 1-A/2-A Swimming and Diving Championships set for Saturday

February 4, 2009
North Carolina

RALEIGH - State titles are up for grabs this weekend as the North Carolina High School Athletic Association holds its eighth annual 1-A/2-A swimming and diving championships.

Diving competition will be held on Friday at the Pullen Aquatic Center in Raleigh, and then the swimming competition is scheduled for Saturday at the Willis Casey Aquatic Center on the N.C. State University campus in Raleigh.

Swimming will commence on Saturday with preliminaries starting at 9:15am and finals beginning at approximately 5:00 pm.

This is the largest meet in the history of the 1A/2A classification for swimming, with 770 swimmers and divers qualifying for competition.

Raleigh's Cardinal Gibbons has earned the last three team titles in this classification in women¹s competition while the Gibbons men also won last year, breaking a bid by East Lincoln to win three state crowns in succession.
