MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The Carolinas All-Star Basketball Classic made its debut on the Grand Strand on Saturday night with the North Carolina girls beating the South Carolina girls 111-77 and the N.C. boys downing their S.C. counterparts 106-82. The night brought fast-paced, sometimes sloppy basketball and a nearly packed house to Socastee High School. It also brought the end of an era at Carolina Forest High School.
Seniors Lakeitha Alston and Danielle Hennessey, who starred together for the Panthers over the past several seasons and won a Region VI-AAAA title this season, teamed up one final time in the Classic, which is a showcase for the top seniors in the two states.
"Me and Lakeitha have been playing together since we were in sixth grade," Hennessey said. "It felt good to get back out there and play again together. We never thought we would play together again." To read this entire story, click here.
