W-S Carver football coach steps down

Winston-Salem Journal WINSTON-SALEM - Keith Wilkes, a giant of a man who helped return Carver High football to its glory years, resigned yesterday as head coach and will become the coach at Shiloh High in Snellville, Ga. Wilkes, a native of Winston-Salem, took over as Carver’s coach in 1992 and led his teams to a combined 139-62-1 record and two NCHSAA 3-A championships. After spending 25 of his 45 years as a student or teacher and coach at Carver, he said he is ready for a new challenge. To read this entire article, click here!
