Gaint leap

June 1, 2009
Person High School

Person girls' track & field junior Brittany Burton knew one thing for sure entering this years's Division 4A state final competition at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro this past weekend.
She wanted to improve on last season's second place performance in the high jump. Even though she was looking to increase her effort of 5-2 last year, she still admitted she was surprised to wind up as state champion in the event.
That's exactly what happened, though, as Burton captured the individual state title with a jump of 5-6. For more on this stroy see Wednesday's Couier-Times. Way to go Brittany!!!
