Rocket netters cap off season of surprises by making playoffs. The Rockets were awarded one of two wild-card bids and played at highly-ranked Broughton in a first-round match on Tuesday. Person finished one its best regular seasons in as long as anyone can remember, earning a share of third place in the PAC-6 with a 5-5 league mark and finishing 11-5 overall.
The Rockets tied for third with Northern were awarded the bid on the basis of overall record.
First year head coach Lynn Ward said the news of the playoff bid was music to his ears.
"We've worked really hard for a long time," and "I can't tell you how excited I am and how excited the girls are. This shows you what can happen if you work hard. I can't begin to thank all of people that have helped us this year. We thank everyone for their support." See the Courier=Times for more of this article.
