New Person girls' soccer coach seeks to instill confidence in struggling program
March 8, 2009 Person High School
One of the first things Gerardo Behori did upon his arrival at Person High School was check out the school's trophy case in the gymnasium lobby to see how many awards the Rockets had achieved in soccer. As it turns out, Behori, in his inaugural season as head coach of the Rocket girls' soccer team in 2009, came to discover that the program has struggled over the years playing in the powerful Piedmont Athletic Conference and is still working to establish a stable and strong program. Behori, anative of Equatorial Guinea (a small Spanish-speaking country in Africa), brings with him an impressive soccer back-ground, having played Major League Soccer for six years and having coached for over 20. The Rockets play their season-opener next Wednesday evening when they host Oxford Webb at Rocket Stadium's Connie Mack Gravitte Field at 6:00. |
