Rockets jump on Tigers

This was not the type of contest Person head coach Mike Shotwell was expecting in his team's Piedmont Athletic Conference softball opener against the usually tough Chapel Hill Tigers, who are just two years removed from a Division 4A state finals appearance.
The anticipation of another tight game between the two league rivals didn't materialize on Thursday at Chapel Hill as the Rockets jumped on the hosts for 10 runs in the first two innings and coasted to a 13-0 five inning victory.
The final few innings were played under threatening skies. Fortunately, the game concluded just before heavy rain began to fall. The Rockets have already had several games postponed or cancelled due to inclement weather this season. For more on this game click on The Courier=Times link below. |
