Rhew hurls no-hitter in win over Hornets
March 22, 2009 Person High School
Backup pitcher Jordan Rhew hurled a five-inning, no-hit shutout in the Rockets 13-0 PAC-6 softball win over the Hillside Hornets Friday evening at the Person High School Field. It was Rhew's second start of the season and her first win. She struck out 12 batters and allowed just two walks, as Person pitching has not allowed a hit in its last three games. Kaitlyn Burton served as Rhew's battery mate for the contest. Melissa Harris continued her hot hitting with a triple. Over the past two contests, Harris has gone a perfect 3-for-3 with a grand-slam homer, a double and a triple to her credit. Person upped its record to 4-0 overall (2-0 in the PAC-6) while the visiting Hornets, who were playing their first game of the year, fell to 0-1. The Rockets next travel to take on PAC-6 rival East Chapel Hill on Tuesday, March 24. |
